Dior Couture: The New Romantics Unveiled (2026)

The New Romantic Revolution at Dior Couture

In a whirlwind of creative energy, Jonathan Anderson, the Irish fashion visionary, has returned to the runway just days after his groundbreaking men's show. This time, he unveils his inaugural couture collection as Dior's creative director, and the beauty narrative is nothing short of captivating.

"Jonathan aimed for a contemporary twist on beauty," shares Guido Palau, the renowned hairstylist, as we chat behind the scenes. He's joined by Ashley Brokaw, the show's casting director, amidst a bustling atmosphere where models indulge in cucumber tea sandwiches and crêpes, while the beauty teams work their magic.

"Jonathan, Peter, and I explored ideas of futurism, envisioning Dior's future," Guido explains, referring to Peter Philips, the creative and image director of Christian Dior makeup. This collaboration has birthed a collection that exudes youth and freshness, and the beauty look is no exception.

"The collection is youthful and vibrant," Philips tells me, "so we wanted a beauty look to match." After perfecting the skin with the Dior Forever Skin range, he applied the Rosy Glow Stick in Pink Lilac, followed by a luminizer tailored to each model's undertone. "This is the secret to achieving a natural glow, not an over-the-top highlighter effect," Philips reveals. "Et voila! A radiant, fresh-faced look is born."

For the hair, Guido drew inspiration from the cyclamen flower, a gift from former Dior creative director John Galliano to Anderson, and from the collection itself. "The veils are soft pink and violet shades, hand-dyed through a unique dipping process," he describes. These veils are worn flat atop the head, creating an unconventional, super-long bang effect.

Then, there are the floral hairpieces. "They're not your typical earrings or buns," Guido clarifies. "They resemble the oversized headphones trend, but with a romantic twist. Flowers in the hair are timeless, but the modern presentation, sitting at the front of the face, is what makes it unique." A third style is more traditional, with hair brushed back and straight, cascading down the back.

Before the models take to the runway, Philips adds a final touch with a simple yet effective tool: a tissue. "I apply the Lip Glow oil to each model, which adapts to their pH, creating a unique shade. Just before they walk, they dab their lips with a tissue, leaving a subtle gloss."

The future at Dior is indeed luminous and fresh. But here's where it gets intriguing: How will this new romantic vision shape the industry? And this is the part most people miss: the subtle details that make a statement. What do you think? Will this fresh take on beauty and fashion inspire a new era? Share your thoughts in the comments; let's spark a conversation!"
